Images - Overview

Images are non-text content that can convey additional information that is necessary for understanding. In some cases, these have no added informational value and are only used to improve visual perception. However, images or graphics are often also used to link to other content.

A distinction is therefore made here between

  • decorative images:
only for decorative purpose, also includes decorative text-characters

  • informative images:
    convey relevant information

  • functional images:
images/icons which are linked to another content, e.g.: linked logo
